Exhibitions

The 2008 exhibition of Huddersfield Railway Modellers will take place over the weekend of  

October 25th and 26th.

Opening times are 10.00 am to 5.00 pm both days

at The Civic Hall, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire. This can be found on the A6024 in the centre of Holmfirth.

Visiting Layouts are:-   

 

                Thomas the Tank Engine 

                    This is a '00' gauge layout which, as you would expect, children get the opportunity to run the trains. We ask for donations from parents rather than a fixed fee and in 2007 this layout raised £125 which as usual, we donated to the Martin House Hospice for Children and Young people which is based in Boston Spa near Wetherby in West Yorkshire.              Dinas Ddu

                          A 16mm gauge layout to scale 1:38 based upon the North Wales Narrow Gauge Railway company's line into Rhyd Ddu. The layout is 16' x 2'6". (Owner: Peter Booth)

            Newmarsh Goods 

                    Built to '00' gauge, this layout is set in Southern England in the 1950's / 60's period. As the name suggests it is a small goods yard on the outskirts of a city. The layout measures 10'2" x 2'. (Owners Brian Mosby and Jeremy Wade).

            Bradford City Road

                    Another '00' gauge layout covering the period 1970 to 1974. It is a fictional representation of what might have become the Great Northern Railway company's main terminus station in Bradford. The layout measures 15' x 2'. (Owner: Neale Burrows).

            Hellifield shed

                    This layout is built to 7mm finescale standards and depicts the shed during the period 1948 to 1963. Locomotives from the BR period and numerous Pre-grouping companies make appearences. The layout measures 20' x 5'. (Owners: Keighley MRC).

            Morse Junction

                    Built to 'H0' gauge Morse Junction is an American outline layout set in the 1950's. It is a DCC controlled layout measuring 16' x 2'. (Owner Roger Epps).

            Agawa Yard

                    Another 'H0' gauge layout but this time in Canadian outline, set around the year 1969. This layout is also DCC controlled and measures 8' x 2'. ( Owner Chris Dening).

            Dingle (An Daingean)

                     This layout is a representation of the 3' gauge Tralee and Dingle Railway built to 4mm scale on 12mm gauge track. The layout is 'L' shaped with an overall size of 17'4 x 14'4. (Owners: Chester Model Railway Club).

            Woodhead

                    An 'N' gauge 1:148 scale model of the now closed station on what was the Manchester - Sheffield line of the ex GC/LNER.  The period covered is 1954 up to closure in 1981. (Owner: Gary Atkinson)

            Marmagne

                    Another 'H0' gauge layout but this time set in France in the period around 1980. The layout is 12' x 2' (Owner: Roger Nicholls).  

            Sparkel

                    Set in Bavaria, Germany around 1910 this is another 'H0' gauge layout. It has as it's theme a winter setting with snow as part of the scenic decor. The layout is 9'9" x 1'3". (Owner: Norman Raven).

            Port William

                    This is an 'N' gauge layout based upon a Scottish branchline. It is set in the 'Blue Diesel' era, it measures 9' x 2'. (Owner: Simon Cullen).

            Clayton West

                    Built by one of our club members, this layout depicts the small village station in West Yorkshire around the period of the 1950's. It measures 12' x 2' and is built to '00' gauge. ( Owner Dave Garner).

            Weybridge-on-sea

                    Another '00' gauge layout, this time built by some of our club members. It is based upon a Southern region Terminus station with a branch just beyond the station entrance. The layout is about 38 feet long and 4 feet wide. (Owners: Huddersfield Railway Modellers).

 

Proceeds from the Thomas Layout will again be donated to the Martin House Hospice for children.

 The 2007 exhibition raised £125 for this very good cause.

 

 We hope to have a London Transport Routmaster running again on the hour  from Huddersfield Railway station to the venue.  This proved very popular in 2007 and the numbers carried were the highest since we started running the bus about six years ago.

Janets famous pie and peas with pies supplied by the Gold Medal winning pie maker Peter Grange.  We ordered even more in 2007 and they proved yet again to be extremely popular with another sell out.
